Having your portrait taken can be a very stressful experience, but it can also be a fun and exciting event full of laughs and memories. I think it is important to get to know me, how I approach a portrait session and what my goals are for each photograph.
To me each portrait turns into a reflection of the people in it, the photographs should capture something meaningful and emotional. It should try to show the personality and character of the subjects to the viewers. It is far more than a simple documentation, it is art and emotion.
The key to getting photographs that represent who you really are is being comfortable, and I have found that almost no one is comofortable in a studio with big lights glaring down on them. To get images that are a reflection of you and are full of emotion, they need to be taken somewhere that you feel completely comfortable with, somewhere that has meaning to you. Simply put, you need to be somewhere you love. This is why I love working on location. It gives me the oppertunity to photograph the subject doing something that tells a story about them in a location that adds to that story and adds a great deal of meaning to the image.
